Hello,
I am new to the board but a previous avid reader. I have accidentally washed my new silk dress in the washing machine and it's now like cardboard. Is there anything I can do to save it?
Thanks in advance

Try gently ironing it, on the 'silk' setting on your iron, no steam. That may soften it up a little. Good luck!

Iron it inside out preferably from damp/wet.
Is it washable or dry clean only?
Hope it wasn't your favourite dress. :eek:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Hi
my hubby likes to wear silk shirts on holiday.
I always wash them in the machine on 'delicates'.
They come out fairly stiff, but I iron them on a '2 dot' iron setting with steam and they come up fine.
I guess it depends on what temperature you used in the machine - hope it wasn't 'boil wash'.

I always wash my few silk items on delicate, slow spin, allow to dry naturally, then pop in td on low setting for 10mins. I hate ironing, and just wouldn't go near silk with it.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Maybe try holding the dress up and steaming it with the iron if you don't fancy touching it to start with.
Unless you have one of those can't live without steam cleaner jobbies.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
