Final payment options

Our mortgage is £27,019 and we're on svr so no early repayment fees.

I've been left 25k in a will so is there any reason not to use 2k of savings and get rid of my mortgage ?

I've pretty much decided this is the best thing to do , the only slight bugbear is we've kind of talked about turning the conservatory into a orangery so we can use it year round.

At the moment though i'm leaning towards getting rid of the mortgage .

Do you know what rate you're paying on your mortgage?

Or what rate your savings are getting?

    we're on nationwides svr 2.25 %

we only have 8k in savings as we've been ploughing extra onto the mortgage but the savings are getting a massive 0.8 %.

I'm in a position where i could be mortgage free by the end of the month at the age of 44 which is appealing , i just wanted people to throw up some other options or reasons that might not be best.
