hello MSErs

after going to LIDl to buy their 40 quid home cinema and getting told that the supplier pulled out at the last minute, I thought I would tap into the MSE knowledge on here.

Can anyone find me a cheap decent home cinema system? I am too fussed really, i just want to be able to listen to Quadrophenia by the Who in surround sound and have some decent sound while watching my movies.

I'm just tagging onto your thread too - I've got a room in my basement I want to use as a cinema, and was thinking about just sourcing a second-hand DVD projector and making a screen myself...

But if there's a cheap ready-made system out there, all the better!

Actualy, i am just looking for the speakers and the bass and the amp. Just audio for me. But you are welcome to hijack my thread, the more post, the more people it attracts.

Your not going to get decent sound from a £40 system. and unless you have the surround version of the soundtrack then you wont be getting full surround of effect of quadrophenia and it will be a stereo stage processed to be prologic.

Take yourself down to your local hifi shops and get them to audition a few systems for you, take quadrophenia with you if you like it and use it to audition the kit you take the same disk and use it to compare them.

Wasn't Quadrophenia, the album supposed to have been recorded in quadrophenic? Surely it would work on a surround sound system, no?

I am too used to listening to my crap speakers in my car: anything will sound decent to me. lol, what about a 70 quid system?

asda have 2 systems, durabrand £25 and onn £39, might be worth a try. Should be easy to take back is they don't suit you. :beer:
