Youth Football Teams in near to the Borough of Lewisham

Hi All,

My nephew loves playing football, he can spend hours playing football in his local park.

I'd like to know if there are any recommended football teams for a child who is 12 years old close to the Lewisham Borough.

Also can you provide any advice on how to get my nephew on some trials for local league or non-league teams.

Search the FA website for clubs close to you. Take him along to 2 or 3 and see which one he likes best.

Pro and semi-pro clubs use a trawler system for spotting young talent, they very rarely look at anyone over 10. All you can do is contact them and see if they will come and see him play once he has a club.

Does he not have any friends at school that play for a local club?

As for playing for a pro/semi-pro club youth team, as above, it will be quite difficult for him to get in and he would need to be extremely good. Most of them have trials at the beginning of a season (around now).
