Package opened

I bought something from USA, the package was definitely opened and tapped back up, I could see that.
But the seller claims it must have been in transit that the goods were stolen, I have no way of knowing if he made it look like that.
Is there any way to tell if customs or somebody opened it.

Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future

Is it true that if customs were to open the package then they should put a sticker on explaining that it was inspected?
If there is no sticker from customs then who else could have opened it?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
Doesn't matter. If you didn't receive the goods, just open an INR case (assuming you bought on ebay) or raise a chargeback/claim if you paid by card/Paypal.0

Does anybody know if customs open your packages, are they required to put a sticker on explaining why?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0

No such requirement (and if you think about it, it would be pretty daft for Customs to highlight what made them check!).0

Not the best way to proceed as the seller will win if they provide tracking details which show the package was delivered.
Instead open a "not as described case" and say that you received an empty package.
If you are asked to return "the item" just make sure you get a pre paid returns label then return the empty packaging.0 -

This is the incorrect advice.
As 19lottie82 has mentioned, open a SNAD case and return the empty envelope at the sellers expense.0 -

Or item was badly wrapped and item was lost and package resealed en route. Unless you can prove something was lost en route , which you can't, your only option realistically is a SNAD claim or else just write it off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for correcting me, but why repeat something someone has already said? The point has already been made very clearly.0
