How to advertise at job centre

Local job centre is driving me nuts.

We are looking to recruit a part time administrator and have decided to go through job centre. Need to register as employer with Government Gateway which is fine, but can't register as they say our address doesn't exist, the only options after entering the town (which is a London borough) are London, or south east. Does anyone know how I can get over this problem?

Tried to place an ad in local paper, we only need it for a week as we know that there will be enough response. Oh no, that has to be for 2 weeks print and 4 weeks online, costing more that it can cost to advertise the company in a glossy magazine.

When did a very simple recruitment request become so complex?
A smile costs little but creates much :)

Try Craigslist or similar. Most jobseekers will use sites like Indeed or Monster rather than the usual site.

I've used Indeed, it's fairly straightforward and you can pull the ad when you want to.

Its probably a blessing in disguise that you haven't been able to post it in the Jobcentre.

Any adverts we have posted with Jobcentre online result in hundreds of applications from people with none of the essential qualifications or experience, and a hundred more applications from people who admit they only applied so they could mark it on their job search activity to keep receiving their JSA.

Consider the amount of time wasted combing through the applications and contacting people who then don't bother to turn up to interview.

You then have a number of feedback forms that need to be sent back to the job centre, advising who applied, who was invited for interview and who was successful (if any). So we just don't bother with the job center any more.

You will have more luck posting an advert on Facebook, Gumtree, etc - a card in the window, poster in local Tesco and library.

What she said. Except we never got any feedback forms to complete.

Many public funding streams, however, REQUIRE that the recipient advertises posts through the JC. I would ring Belfast, which I understand to be their 'head office'.

It infuriates me that Middlesex doesn't appear to exist on many lists of boroughs - it is well out of London!

Please dont use job centre. They are not in the Business now of helping people Find jobs. They just want to sanction you by making sure people satisfy the critetia of claiming Jsa. Either advertise locally or get it filled by word of mouth. Even using a recruitment agency is a better option but it will cost you a finders fee.

Middlesex disappeared as a county in 1965, most of it forming some of the then new London Boroughs. The remainder went to either Hertfordshire or Surrey. It is still used as a postal address.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

You could try going into the local jobcentre, they will give you a person to email your advert to so the advisors can give them out to people and advertise it inside. Trying to get it posted on job match as you discovered is quite tedious
