It's Not Working Out !

Help and advice needed please regarding my job loss last week, which has completely gutted me and left me in a state of shock. On benefits with debts to pay, and no where to turn.
I left a well paid job in April, mainly due to the fact the long hours and travelling were beginning to take a tole on my health.
I took what was a newly created position at a long established local firm, with similar pay but better travel time and hours worked. I believed I had the necessary experience and skills to make a go of this new position. They genuinely wanted me to work for them, and I accepted the new post. I even turned down another job offer as they were so keen to get me on board. Everybody I spoke to about the move thought it would be a good one for work/life balance.
However I was only a few weeks into my new job, which had a three month. probationary period.
I was summoned into HR office and given a weeks notice of termination of my employment with the firm. I was paid up in full including holiday entitlement.
When I asked why I was being finished all the HR said was " it's not working out " !
I asked them to elaborate but thats all they told me. I asked it was my job performance, attitude, time keeping etc etc, but they wouldn't/couldn't tell me any more. I wasn't allowed to speak to senior management, but told to clear my desk and go. Nothing but a wall of silence.
I was shell shocked. They hadn't even given me time to settle in, get to know their systems and procedures , the products, the staff and the customers. Normally in a new job I think it realistically takes three to six months to settle into the position. I was give less than two months before being booted out the door ! Unexpected. Cruel. Ruthless.
I feel a mixture of anger, bewilderment, and despair. I have not lost one but three jobs if you count the other one I could have had. I have no closure or peace of mind other this sudden departure.
I have never been in this position. Unemployed for the first time in 33 years, and signing on, when three months ago I had long hours but a well paid secure job to go with it.
There are two basic questions I would like forum help with please :
What I am supposed to put on my CV and any job applications as I surely cannot simply put " Its not working out " ? What do I tell prospective employers ?
Can I use a subject access request to get information from my previous employer to see if I can find out why they finished me so suddenly ? Under the request will they have to provide my employment files records and other documents relating to my time at the firm and why I was abruptly finished with minimum explanation. ?
Thanks in advance for any help or useful knowledge.

Well it depends, you may decide not to include the job at all on your CV, it's only a few months.
A SAR wont necessarily tell you anything about why you were sacked. They don't need a reason. Even if it did, the reason could be anything, e.g. wore wrong tie (admittedly that's unlikely), so wont really help you.
Their reference could be good, you wont know unless you ask.0
