OP - depending where in the country you are have you considered looking at one of the TAG outlet stores - Bicester/Ellesmere Port/York
I invested in a ltd edition McLaren one a few years ago and can recommend both the service and the price0 -

BUT it means your £1600 watch will be using a similar internal mechanism as a £50 watch. An automatic watch, whilst not being as accurate, is a piece of mechanical wonder and art.
So are you buying it for the brandname on your wrist or the craftsmanship?
Also.. do you fancy paying for a Tag replacement battery/service every 5-10 years?
I cannot echo this enough. My OH is a Tag fanatic and has half a dozen. The batteries usually need changing every 24 months and each second battery change is usually also a service. The last two automatics were Tags and from Cohen and Massias who are based in Gib and are authorised (not grey). The model you want may not be less there but it's always worth comparing. No import taxes to pay either.
Thankfully we have an excellent horologist who now services the collection for us locally as Tag's own prices are extortionate.0
