Well they haven't replied to email yet and I doubt they will can't help but think they'll do something so I can't leave but we'll see. No I can't work this job and new job as hours clash and locations will be too far to get to. Thanks everyone.

Take a copy of the email, then draft a letter based on the content of the email and send it to them just to be sure.
Good luck in the new job.
Interestingly enough, my contract says I have to give four weeks notice, but my employer does not have to give me any notice at all if they wish to dismiss me. I have only been there seven months and haven't yet returned my signed contract to them;)

That is not true if you are an employee.

They cannot override statutory notice in the contract.

Nemq I doubt they will do anything. I have worked for many Agencies over the years and they all allow you to leave with zero notice. After all, you are in a temporary, day-to-day job.

If you leave to work in a permanent role, then that's the Agency's tough luck. They will have another temp in to cover your old role the Monday after you leave.

Yep it's been a long, long time since I've seen anyone held to working their notice, possibly as long ago as 2014.

The agency might blacklist you for a couple of years but will eventually forget.

I did put an application in the post recently which got far more attention then an email really would have, I'd try that if it bothers you so much and then write a line under this whole drama.

Myself missing 3 of the 4 reviews with the present company I should have had by now, no sign of my salary going up as per the contractual term they set, having seen another 'employee' go on 24 hours notice otherwise they would just continue being sick and claiming poverty it was nothing short of in their interests to go so there isn't much point trying to impose on people, being told the client pays wages which would make my supposed employer merely an agent of some description, full notice certainly not my concern. Even with this breech of contract coming up I've found other employers who whilst know nothing of this have absolutely offered to wait in these times. Yep ironically it always happens when you don't so much as need it! Always the way.
