Hard print left after getting agreement in principle!!

Hi guys my partner and I are first time buyers and have been doing everything through a mortgage broker. After getting our Agreement in Principle last Thursday I got my credit report update on Saturday advising my score had dropped. On investigation I discovered this was due to a hard search by Nat West. I was under the impression applications for an AIP only left soft prints so I'm a bit confused. Anyone else had this??

NatWest carry out a "hard" credit search for an AIP as do a number of other lenders.0

I did wonder if this was the case but when I checked their website it said they carry out soft searches. Does that mean their checks for actual applications are more in depth?0

I think i would prefer a hard search, less likely for problems later on, unlike halifax who's AIP isn't worth the paper it's printed on0

Maybe your broker went through to full application? Either way one or two hard searches isn't going to cause problems. You have to trust your broker that he/she has chosen the right lender for you.
Remember without searches you don't get credit, and the score you see is a meaning less number as the lenders will score your file based on their criteria.0 -
Your broker has presumably been permission to run credit search. You wont a mortgage without one.
Don't waste your time worrying about what the credit reference agency is saying about 'score' - totally irrelevant.I am a Mortgage Broker

Natwest do a full footprint credit check for brokers or soft footprint for individuals on the website.
Some lenders do full footprints, others do soft foorpints at DIP stage.
Your credit score is a figure plucked from think air.
