Southern Fried Chicken Coating

Can anyone recommend any tasty fried chicken KFC style coating mixes? I used to buy the Homepride Coat and Cook dried coating, but they no longer produce them. I generally create a mixture of my own, but am looking for some pre-made packets for the store cupboard. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Not sure if it's like KFC, but I really like tropical sun's chicken fry mix, I get it from Tesco. Hth.

The takeaway secret cookbook does one, it's really easy. Very like the real thing.
Once you get the spices in you could save afortune.

Thank you BB34, I've seen this fry mix in the World Food section at Tesco and Asda, so I will certainly give it try, I've also found another similar product called KTC chicken fry mix, which looks like great value for money, as it's priced at £1.50 for a 300g container from Morrisons.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jil,

I've got the book, it's great, and that's the recipe I've been sampling, but I like to mix it up a bit sometimes and adapt the recipe with some extras to get the texture the way I like it.

    Thanks for the tip.

Quite a few variations on this seasoning in packets and tins in local Asian shops if you have them.

I need to stock up on my Chinese and Indian store cupboard essentials at my local Wing Yip, so will definitely have a look around for them.

Thanks for the tip, have a good day.

The KTC stuff is great for the price. There are several versions of it including Peri-Peri and spicy. We buy it from Morissons or the local Asian supermarket. The latter has many more options compared to Morrisons.

The KTC is certainly is great value for money, I ended up buying the KTC extra spicy from Morrisons (they also had the original receipe), and although the price displayed was £1.79 for a 300g tub, when I got to the checkout it was reduced to £1.50. I saw similar products in both Sainsburys and Tesco, but they were charging £2.89 upwards, so it was a bargain.
