At the end of an interview on BBC Radio 4 on Friday the interviewee from the Co-op said that they could not control the prices charged by partners.

Coop also do Typhoo tea bags, 240 per box. Cost £5.99. And that's in the main large store in my town

Maybe but there will always be a point where a customer will say it's too expensive like the OP has and go elsewhere.
