Where is the cheapest milk

Hi

A few weeks ago you could buy 2 '4-pint' bottles of milk in quite a few supermarkets for £2, which was very good.

At the time the price for 1 bottle was about £1.15

Now the price has rocketed to £1.48 for the same 4 pint bottle

From the offer price of £1 to £1.48, a whopping 48% increase is quite a jump

Which supermarket has the best deal ??

By chance I bought the slightly smaller 2litre bottle for a local shop for £1, which seemed pretty good to me

Regards

I buy mine from the milkman so haven't any idea about supermarket prices. I pay £3.43 for 7 pints so 49p per pint. At £1.48 the supermarket milk works out at 37p per pint.
    Make £5 per day in August= £100/£155
    Paid MS- £5+ £10 GR, £5 RE, £15 MS
    £65 ebay profit
    Waiting on payment- E160 BAI

  • Try your local independent shop. We run a small newsagents and are still undercutting the supermarkets by selling 4 pints at £1.15.
If we can do it and still make a fair profit it just goes to show the greed of the larger chains.

Don't know about the cheapest milk but I had a note from my milkman this week telling me that there is a world shortage of milk (!) and that the price will be increasing by 4p per pint at the end of October!

I got a note like that.

It said China have decided that each child has to have half a pint of dried milk per day. The Chinese are paying farmers more for sending dried milk, than they are getting for selling fresh milk to UK distributors, which has upset the supply and demand balance.
Here I go again on my own....

  • Iceland - £1 for 4 pints...and £1.96 for 6 pints...so I have been buying 2 of the 4 pints, meaning £2 for 8 pints...plus 10% discount as my hubby has a P/T job there so 8 pints for £1.80!!!

Can't see it lasting long though!!!!
