Hi All,
After realising my problems, I have put in place a few things to help me get out of trouble. The latest I think will make the biggest difference. I never budgeted for things such as car insurance, tax, MOT, servicing etc or for things like dentist and opticians. I feel a lot of my debt problem may be down to this as I can afford the car loan repayments, but when you add on the extra costs of tyres and maintenance etc it is far more than you imagine. A basic budget based on the last 12 months not including the car loan repayments we spent about £2000 on insurance and general costs associated with running the cars.
Anyway, I have now set up 3 extra savings accounts on my online banking site, 1 for cars, 1 for health, and 1 for emergencys. I know this sounds a small thing, but I think it may help keep away from borrowing more and more.

What a simple but good idea. I know what you mean about not budgeting for things like that. I'm in the same boat and my home insurance, road tax and car service and MOT are all due in the next couple of months. Eek!
I think they'll all have to go on the credit cards this time round but I'm going to try and budget for next year. Here's hoping.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on
:j NOW DEBT FREE!!!! :j
I try to take life one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once
