Credit card fraud

I had debt problems from when I was at Uni and have spent the last seven years clearing it. I have been very careful not to apply for credit so as not to make my rating any worse. However, feeling I was getting it sorted I saw an ad for VANQUIS which said it was the card for those with a poor credit history and for people looking to improve their credit score. I applied and, not only did they turn me down, they gave my contact details to high rate unsecured loan cowboys to try and entice me back in to debt. What can be done I ask you?

  • I mean what can be done about credit card companies that entice you to apply in order that they may decline and pass your details on to cowboys, not what can i do about being offered poor value loans, honestly.

How exactly did Vanquis entice you to apply? By placing an add?  May they got to hell and rot

EVERY loan, CC, mtg company advertises and if I had a £ for every piece of !!!!!! that came through my door/into my inbox then quite frankly I wouldn't have needed to join this board!!

I really dont see what your gripe is, maybe I am jsut totally missing the point :confused:

  • yep, you are!!
  • right i think op is not happy that vanquis has passed over his details to another company that offers loans with a high interst rate. Now i dont think thats fraud as fraud is deception, you have not been made and the other company hasnt just applyed and given you a loan without asking. However all they have done is shared your details to another credit/loan company to try and get you to have a different form of credit. I believe if you would have read the terms and conditions before apply for the credit card from Vanquis in the small print it may have had something written *upon signing this agreement you allow us to share your details with sister/3rd partys*. Sadly this is how any company works, credit or not.

now i dont know if jp is saying this literally ~ ie what can be done ~ whatever i do companys what me to get into debt etc etc and he is having a general rant or if he is asking what can be done, if that case jp the simple answer is nothing. Unless you signed *dont pass my details on* sadly once your details are out in the wide world of credit agencies/applications its there forever ~ just make sure you recycle the junk mail ;)
