Query I can't find an answer for

Options
Hi,

Hope someone can help. About 2013 rbs sent me a ppi offer, I think it was for a loan, about £900.

At the time however I ignored this offer as I had previously had a default with them and wondered if by accepting this offer the could allocate it against said default and it would affect my credit file, I was just about to complete on my first mortgage and was wary of anything complicating this.

I'm now down the line and moved home and have a very good credit file and am financially stable, I'm debating following this up.

My question is if I am due a ppi refund will this be allocated against the old default, which has long since disappeared from my file.

I should say this was a £1700 default for a student overdraft they called in before the year after studying I was told I was allowed so being stubborn we locked horns on this and when they defaulted it I stopped banking with them entirely.

I am not looking for lectures on the morality of this, just answer to my question from anyone in the know, will claiming this lead to them 1. Allocating this to a debt over 10 years old and 2. If so, affect my credit file?

Thanks in advance
