Questions about SC and DV clearence

Options
Hi

I am in IT and a lot of the jobs I want require clearence. I have no criminal record of any kind, not even a speeding ticket so I assume the SC will be fine, I have been CRB checked before without issue. My credit is good, I have no debts apart from a couple of very small mortgages and no ccjs bad debt etc etc all my accounts and cards are solvent, taxes paid. So what are the issues....

My issues are concerns about the following.

I have done some matched betting so my accounts show a bit of gambling turnover, nothing drastic and no losses or bets of more than a hundred or so pounds at a time. I was just playing with it but am worried it might be seen as unusual.

Second is my serious concern. I had some health issues that basically left me a bit bonkers for awhile, basically very depressed. I did not actually get any phyciatric treatment or medication and the underlying cause was physical and is now 100% resolved. But my medical record would reflect a phyciatric disorder as I spoke to my GP about it.

So, what level of clearence might I aim for before this would be an issue and will failing a clearence due to this get flagged anywhere, ie will it make it more prominent on checks that would otherwise pass in the future?

THANKS!

SC does not look at bank records. I have it and I've done matched betting.

DV may well bring up gambling but as long as it's "out in the open" it would be fine - they are looking to asses the risk of blackmail or coercion due to debts, not to judge how you live your life.
  • DV is a alot more detail including financial. Also every Govt area that does DV has slightly different levels of acceptance and can be a bit subjective. You should be ok but never know until you try.

I would be pretty confident that DV will reveal it, although whether it would count against you I can't say. I would have thought it's unlikely that the information would be made available elsewhere, although I suppose it's possible that if you were to undergo a second DV the original files might be reviewed.

Thanks, the matched betting is really a how they look at it thing, the amount of money is tiny and there are zero debts so it sounds ok. I guess with the other I will just do SC first, my main concern is I would pass SC no problem and then fail DV and get SC revoked in consequence, I will read up on that link, as usual THANKS everyone, I really appreciate the people in this forum!
