Early Retirement Discount Factor

The strict mathematical answer of which option is likely to give you more lifetime cash is probably less important than other issues around your personal aims and attitudes. If you have a strong desire to leave an inheritance to kids that would push you towards taking the DB early to try and leave more of the DC capital intact. If you are a natural worrier, then preserving the DB by deferring it might help you sleep better at night.
A key question might be: How early can you take the DB and still have it plus state pension cover your 'basic' number? That's a position where you can be happy that whatever the markets do, you know you'll be okay long term - which is a very comforting place to be. Once you are there, it may well be that any extra funds are more useful to you personally as capital than income as it gives more flexibility. Or not, all depending on your personal attitudes. In my own case I need 100% of the DB to get to that point and so I'll be living on savings and DC funds from 53 to 63, but if my DB was bigger I probably would take it earlier.
As Atush suggested, the perfect solution for you may be somewhere in between the two extremes.0
