Dear Lord, talk about making it complicated...
*If* I understood it right, B agreed that, OUT OF A & C's monthly £400 contribution, £100 would be used to purchase the gift for A, then the total owed is £400.
(Quite why they are fanny!ng around with the reduce-to-£300-and-then-I'll-give-you-£100-for-the-gift escapes me....it's STILL £400 either way...)
If not, then A & C should still be paying £400 PLUS the £100 for A's gift = £500.
