Part Qualifying SP Years

Hi there, are ‘Part Paid’ National Insurance State Pension years any use for calculating full qualify years? Can a few part years add up to become worth a full year or are they completed written off in terms?

I have three part paid years from about twentyfive years ago!

Many thanks.

Only full NI years count for the State Pension.
You can pay to make part years up to full years if you wish, but only for a certain time after the year in question - 25 years back is too long.

Do you need to worry - you only need a set number of years fully paid / credited to get the full state pension.
If you are still working and paying NI, or getting certain benefits, eg child benefit (for under 12's), then you will still be getting full years in your record until you retire, or stop getting credits from the benefit.

Not quite true though, for those starting out from 2016 yes but for everyone else it is a hybrid system with many having 40+ years of "full" contributions and still not reaching the new pension amount.
