Hi, everyone! thank you all for your kind messages. the shock is slowly starting to wear off. I alerted the police today and they told me there was not much they could do in the station. I was told to go on Action Fraud to make a complaint. The policeman I spoke to seemed very nice and told me he had a similar experience before. I guess it can happen to just about anyone. It's just such a shame.

Why can;t the police do anything about it?
Can't they try and trace who placed this advert?

If they have the time, money and resources, which they don't.
  • I have also fallen scan like to this. Thank you so much for posting your story as now I won't go to my induction supposedly set for Monday (they had already reschuled this date). I can't believe this has happened. Can you tell me what steps you have taken since realising it was a scam?

    Thanks

You should report the adverts as fraudulant to the jobsites that hosted it.

Maybe it is the DWP deliberately getting peopele to turn up for jobs which do not exist.
Last year my OH and I were unemployed, and were sent on an employabilty course by the DWP. We are both highly trained and my OH has 2 degrees in science.
We arrived early at the course, and were told that they had no knowledge of any course taking place there. The guy did tell us that the courses had been relocated a mile away.
When we arrived there and told the staff (Go Train), they were not interested in the least no apology whatsoever.
I reckon half the "jobs" on various jobsites do not exist.

Someone already posted the whois link. Here are the details in case the domain disappears and you want to take court action. However the address is only a hotel, so it's obviously also bogus:

Other warning signs were that the website states EG Limited have been in existence since 1993. There is an EG Limited but it's not this "company". Domain was registered in 2014.

Sorry to hear that. I've been in contact with the police and the bank.
