Since being made redundant 2 years ago I decided to get help from Shaw Trust in the hope of finding suitable employment. Instead I have been fobbed off with volunteering of which they say I turned down ( not true, it was the fault of the employer they never returned e mails or calls to my advisers). Recently I have been offered a 16 week job opportunity in an office with a wood recycling company in a very rough area some few miles from where I live. I am being forced into accepting this so called 'job opportunity' which I don't really want, I am looking for permanent work not some cheap scheme!!
Also I am told to leave my phone on from 9am - 5pm Mon -Fri in case I get any calls about jobs ( so far I have had hardly any), but when I contact my advisers their phones are switched off!!! Seems to me there is one rule for them and one rule for the jobseeker. Shame on you Shaw Trust:p

I've had very limited dealings with this outfit but I'd describe them as as shambolic muppets.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Fine, but in two years it seems you haven't managed to find such a job! You are, presumably, free to do your own job searching as well?0 -
The advisers have jobs, they are not going to be able to take your call whilst they are with other clients. Leave a message and they will call you back.
You have been out of work for two years, you are not in a position to be turning down work. Expect to be sanctioned if you fail to take the opportunity.0 -
Fine. So what have you done to obtain a permanent role for yourself, and how successful has that been for you? I have no knowledge of this charity, but if they are shambolic muppets, and you haven't managed to find a job of any kind at all in two years, what does that say about you and your job-seeking skills???wednesday764 wrote: »Since being made redundant 2 years ago I decided to get help from Shaw Trust in the hope of finding suitable employment. It seems the solution is in your own hands. Get a job then you won't be on this scheme, will you?0 -

If it was me Id probably give it a try. It will be a good reference over a decent period of time. If it's the East midlands one a guy I was seeing did some courses through them and his sister got interviews and a job through them which she has been working there over a year through their help. I'm sure if you ask if it's voluntary they will probably cover travel expenses and you never know if it will lead to something more:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Shaw Trust? Dont they sell houses? Anyway, a scheme? Is it an agency or something or are they linked to your job seekers claim?
And yes, do the job, 16 week is 4 months wages and something for the two year gap in your CV.0 -
