Starting with Payplan need new bank

I am starting a DMP with payplan at the moment,
the helpful adviser told me to set up a new bank account
because part of the plan includes a £600 overdraft with HSBC

Can I use the facility that my new bank (not picked yet) will offer
where they handle the movement of direct debits and wage credit's
automatically, or will HSBC block this because I have a outstanding
overdraft?

you can open a bank account anywhere without them blocking it. Its proably best to get a basic account without any overdraft facility but make sure it isn't connected to anyone that you owe money too, check here if you aren't sure who is linked to who.
