Can I use credit cards to pay off my mortgage?

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to pay off my mortgage using credit cards, and then switching them immediately to an interest free balance transfer card to pay off over a few years?

I wonder if credit cards have t&c's which say you cannot use them to pay off mortgages.

If anyone has had any experience in doing this, any insight would be great, thank you.

When we wanted to pay 10% off our mortgage we could have paid it by credit card but the bank advised us it would be treated as a cash advance by the credit card company.

I think it depends on the mortgage company. I wanted to do this when I opened my American Express credit card account as I would benefit from a high cashback rate for the first three months.

My mortgage company said no. Debit cards only. Contact your mortgage company and ask them.

I think there is a difference between making regular payments and making a one off payment ie redemption.
