Second time bankruptcy diary

Ey up, new here, i am going to be applying for bankruptcy for the second time (first time was in 2010) and would like to use this thread as a sort of diary about the experience in hopes that it might be of use to someone in the future, assuming my application goes smoothly. Just trying to get the remaining bit of the £680 together and then will be applying.
I've been reading as much as I can online to see what will be different for doing it a second time. A BRO for x amount of years? Face to face with the OR? Although I had a fair few face to face meetings with my old OR 7 years ago, almost nothing was done over the phone for me. Also had to go see a judge I think he said he was on the day I took my completed paperwork to the court with the old fee. Whoever he was he gave me a little telling off. Swore on the bible after and away I went. Stayed unemployed for that 12 months and didn't have to pay anything back and was discharged. This time will be a bit different I think.
Wanted to start this thread a little early because I have a question if anyone would like to advise me on who would be best to open a new bank account with afterwards? Barclays gave me a basic account the first time but i'm wondering if they will again as this time I owe them money whereas I didn't in my first bankruptcy. Just wondering if they might get a bit arsey and who to try with if so? Cheers

If I were you I wouldn't use a basic account with one of my creditors as they can be a bif funny and I'm sure they are able to withhold money too?
Whats the reason for the second bankruptcy in such a short time if you don't mind me asking?
I would say you are pretty much guaranteed to get a BRO.
Application is all done online now so you no longer have to go before a judge to pay the fees.0 -

Withhold money after going bankrupt? That doesn't sound very legal to me. Unless you meant before going bankrupt in which case there isn't any to withhold.
Anyway, can you answer who would be best to approach for an account after bankruptcy?peterkay369 wrote: »Whats the reason for the second bankruptcy in such a short time if you don't mind me asking?
I'm absolutely not being funny, i just don't want to have that conversation, that's more personal than i'm wanting to get, at least here publically. cheers0 -

Is there a reason why you stayed unemployed for twelve months? Are you disabled or otherwise facing barriers to employment?0 -

Let me guess, over 40, balding, has more fingers than friends, and can't see your feet when you look down?0 -

For the OP, I personally have had a Co-op cashminder account since before my bankruptcy, and have had no issues with them. I believe though that you may need to open the account before you are declared bankrupt.
As for using this board, it can be very helpful, but I think it is safe to say that a little humility goes a long way in making friends here. Good luck.
Cheers i'll have a look at that co-op account.
It's ok, i'm fine with not making friends here. Just looking to document the experience for anyone in the same position in the future. Not here to explain myself or answer personal questions from trolls, happy to have some fun with them thoughIs there a reason why you stayed unemployed for twelve months?
It was 7 years ago, and yes there was a reason, cheers.0 -
This board is one of the most helpful boards on this forum, the posters have been a lifeline to many people.
This is a difficult time so either share some knowledge or leave alone. Some of the above remarks are not helpful.0
