Might as well give a few a look, "just in case". Then I could try keeping a list of postcodes of "shops I might be near" when I'm out and about...
Must be spoken - I can't see the phone if I'm driving.
The default is google maps which will be on your phone but uses data as you drive so may get expensive depending on your tariff.
I have heard Wazee recommended widely that I think lets you download maps at home on wifi and is thus much less data hungry.I think....0 -
I think some people must drive entirely by satnav at night.
They must do with the number I see with headlights out! :eek:0 -
More faffery. This is the Waze App
Picked up my phone.... because I wasn't sure about this phone I created a brand new gmail account just for the phone (that I've never used).
Randomly googled a satnav ... and found one - and it's signed in as that email account, so then had to "add existing account" for gmail, because it asked for it. So I typed in my existing one - and then it said "you have to log in in a browser"... why not just take me there at the start!!
So then it wouldn't let me log in, so I had to send a code to my mobile... got the code, keyed it into the phone ... but, at last, it did let me in
Right.... now where was I ....
EDIT: Managed to poke out enough characters that formed words into Google to be able to poke at something on the screen and install something
EDIT 2: That didn't go well... I was progressing, logged in as "me" - and following instructions it wanted me to log in again - typed in the password and it said "Nope/fail" and then I realised it was trying to get me logged in as "phone/me" ... *sighs*.... why did it switch? Trying again.
I have no idea how to go "back" on the browser though..... I guess I'll have to start entirely again.
EDIT 3: I'm confused now.... I log in, type in my password and keep ending up in the store again. I press install and go round in that circle again ... or has it installed and I've just no idea what to do next....
EDIT 3b: AAAaaahhhh... I think my phone was just too super slow to load stuff that it appeared to be "doing nothing"... but I've got to the next bit now.
EDIT 3c: Hurrah. Installed.... although no idea what I've got/what next
EDIT 4: Ah, stuck again - it wants me to log on.... and I've no idea whether I should be choosing "play in app store" or looking for it on the phone.
EDIT 5: Nope. I've definitely installed it .... but have no idea where it is, what to do, how to find it .... no idea at all....
Giving Up.
Gonna have to give up. I turn the phone on, open Chrome, log into my google account, it takes me to where I can see the app but it wants me to choose a device (which I did as part of the install), but there's only a greyed out one in the list, so there's no device for it to run on.
... and why on earth does it need me to be logged on anyway? Surely it should "just work" by picking up the phone and "going to it" (wherever/however that is).0 -

Getting data as you drive is necessary for the traffic information to update in real time, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The iPhone maps now work with car play, so the map that you see on your phone is shown on the sat nav screen of the car. Assuming all bits and bobs are talking to each other. Only works when the phone is plugged in to the aux USB socket, not via blue tooth.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Waze doesn't charge you!
There will be data charges, but that depends on how much data you have on your contract and whether you go over your monthly limit.
posh alert back at you - on an iPhone you delete apps by holding your finger on the app, waiting for it to start shaking and pressing the little 'x' that appears - couldn;t be simpler.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
