    Good luck Sue!

Hope you have plenty of hankies! :D

That will be tomorrow when I have to leave him here...
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

DD2 started the day leaving the house at 9 for a football match at 9.30. She only played the first half as she then had a friends birthday party which she went to late...and left early becuase she had to go to drama school, after which she we to the joiners bbq at her new school and eventually for home just before 7. Tomorrow is church and a netball match, not sure when she will fit in the homework and violin practice.

DS decided he wants to start guitar lessons at school, ordered a cheapo guitar from Amazon standard delivery on Thursday, delivery due by next Thursday and it actually arrived today in time for his first lesson on Monday.:T
    I think....

I've always found Amazon's projected delivery date to be an absolute worst case - it's very rare for it not to arrive earlier, sometimes (as in this case) much earlier.
I never pay them for delivery. It only seems to speed things up by a day or two on the projected date, and frequently it turns out that it wouldn't have saved time anyway.

Something really weird has just happened.

I spent a long time writing a post, and looking up stuff and editing it. Then I posted it, and I saw it posted on this thread.

Then a bit later when I looked, it wasn't there!

Luckily, I had kept it, as a copy and paste into Pages, as I wanted it for my records, so I'll go and retrieve it.

    Very weird. :(

I thought that there was a statutory requirement to have a co-pilot on planes above a certain size, which is near enough all the airline planes?
Can't see how an airline can duck out of it.

I've been in a very small plane going to Jersey that only had one pilot, but it was tiny.
Interesting too, because the plane was so small, there wasn't a separate cabin for the pilot, so you could see everything he was doing!

It was so tiny, there wasn't an aisle either! The plane was a tube that was only two seats wide. Every four seats had its own external door, and one seat could be tilted forward , as in a car, so that people could get into the two 'back' seats first.

The luggage just got stacked at the back.
Two people had a Labrador with them. Dogs go at the back with their owners. :rotfl: I think it had its own seat. :)

At the start, the pilot handed out earmuffs for anyone who wanted one as the plane was quite noisy. I didn't bother. Later on, the pilot handed round some sweets. :rotfl: We had to pass them to each other over the seats!

The whole plane looked like it was made of meccano!
    It was great fun!
And I congratulated the pilot on just about the lightest landing I'd ever experienced!
This was about 12 years ago.
Can't remember the name of the plane, but I've got a feeling it's only just been taken out of service.
    Edit.......

I think it was this one:
    The BN2A Mk 111 Islander

    17332_1191069987.jpg

Although wiki says it was retired in 2011 and I'm sure it was later than that, so it might have been another one.
This one does have the two-seat/separate doors configuration, though, and this one looks far less Heath-Robinson than the one I flew in!

You did post it, Pyxis, but in the Arms where there was a discussion about co-pilots on planes:

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Close - it's actually a Trilander, the larger variant with three engines.

Both the smaller twin-engined Islander and Trilander are still in service in some parts of the world, particularly for military and civilian police work.
They used to be used for the Southampton-Channel Island flights so I saw them regularly. The last Trilander flight to Alderney was in 2015.

LoganAir are still operating a couple around Shetland and Orkney.

    2015 sounds more like it.
    Yes, Southampton to Channel Islands.
I loved being on that plane. You could see what was out the front!
