Surprised and Possibly Delighted.

Wonder if anyone can help??

Life is a bit of a blur and never really bothered about Pensions till now.Never been out of work since I was 10 and now nearly 60.

I came back from holiday to a note from the Prudential asking me to confirm my details....I rang them and they confirmed it MAY be because I have a Pension outstanding if the details and addresses stack up.

I have previously cashed a number of Pensions that I had and am ok financially and probably for my Retirement.I wondered if there is a database somewhere that maybe I could search to see if anybody else is searching for me.

I have had a varied work lifestyle and appear to have about twenty years not accounted for where I haven't cashed the Pensions and have probably paid the contributions. This may be tied in with the Prudential of course!!

TIA.

    Hi

It would mean that they have discovered some pension rights, either an earlier error, or some protected rights and now want to sort it out.

    Be happy but inquisitive.

I bet not everyone knows this Fascillity exists....knock out !!
  • When I get bit nearer to 66 all those old employer/pension providers will be contacting me to tell me I will be getting £20 Or £30 a week(whatever) for the period I worked for (whoever).Provided I haven't cashed the Pension ??

I'm not sure how it works please...I've never been 66 before.

I assume 66 is your State pension age. Private /occupational pensions may be taken from 50( rare)/55/60/65/66 depending on the scheme.

If you've lost track of your pensions try xylophone's link.

It helped me find a pension that turned out to be worth 12k.

Does this mean you took all your other pensions as a cash lump sum (and paid tax on them?)
  • I have cashed a couple of Pensions its true. The Govt caters for people with no Occupational Pensions with Pension Credit....crazy situation I know.

When I know whats in the other schemes ill be able to judge whether I till cash them ??Loads of people doing it??
