Return flat-pack furniture

The right to return low quality goods seems to be a bit unfair when it comes to flat pack furniture. I got a filing cabinet from Argos, and I checked all the parts before putting it together. However during assembly it soon became apparent how poor quality it is. As I screwed parts together through the guide holes, the wood cracked in places. Now it is all finished according to the instructions, some of the draws dont open and close seemlessly, and Im not happy with it.

Of course Argos wont take it back. Because I had to drill through the guide holes it is now 'used'. Any advice on what I can do? (Apart from not going to Argos again)

You can still return it under your Sale of Goods Act (as amended) rights.
