    Thank you guys, what Wookey said sounds something I can use to workout the salary. I have already received the payslip and the payments on it didn't look right to me, hence me asking some help on here. I have sent a few questions to the HR department and might wait for another payslip to see what's actually happening (as this payslip contains the advanced payment of may as well as the payment for june)

    the hourly rate depends on what denominator is used by that employer (or what it says in the contract of employment).

    Absolutely HSC pensions for example.

    Monthly salary to weekly - multiply by 12, divide by 52.14.

    In the case of the op - 18000/52.14/39 = £8.85
    per hour.
