Best place to buy varifocals ?

I get mine from Vision Express.
A few other things to think about
- small lenses don't work so well with varifocals, as each individual section is too small
- Vision Express give you three months to get used to them. So don't panic if they don't seem to work for you straight away. Give it time.
- if you do need to change them at the end of the three months, they give you the 'unsuitable' pair anyway, which is handy to keep as a spare pair (I always have my free pair as sunglasses). Now that I'm totally used to wearing them, I actually don't have much difficulty with the pair that originally didn't work for me. It really is just a matter of practice. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
That's a good point about the size of the lenses. It is more to do with the height than the width.
This style is not at all suited to varifocals (or indeed if you value your peripheral vision).

I hate the modern horse-blinker style thick armed frames.
They would drive me mad , especially the very 'widescreen' ones, as the very obvious frames would be in view all the time and the clear area very small.0 -

I did pay a visit to my nearest ASDA optician (sadly not in any of my four nearest ASDA stores) and I have to say the choice is dismal compared with Specsavers.
Asda are limited, but Specsavers don't have as wide a range as the displays at first suggest, because they have several of each design on the stands.0 -
I suspect this is a leg-pull, but if not I'd be grateful if you could say where you get them. Or do you keep getting your childhood ones reglazed ?Gloomendoom wrote: »I'm still wearing NHS style metal framed specs with curly ear bits.
Many years ago (but well into adulthood) I got hold of a pair of these, it took my optician more than a year to get the order filled but they came eventually. Great for active sports (e.g. sailing, squash, rock climbing), they just stay in place (nearly) whatever you are doing. Nevertheless they are at the bottom of a reservoir now due to a "sailing indident" !0 -
you can add curl sides to most metal frames0
