Leaving a job with a company car. When should I apply for a loan?
Hi,
I am currently deciding when I should take out a loan for a car.
At the moment, I have a company car with my current employer. My potential new employer has confirmed they won't provide me with a car as it's a strictly internal sales roles. I tried negotiating with them and they said in the future things could change. However, I am looking to leave my current role because I don't think I am a great fit. Me and the management see things differently.
Is it better to apply for a car loan whilst I am in this job as I been here for a year and a half or when I start my new job? I need a car to travel to work. Both roles offer mid 20,000 base salary but my current employers offer more perks.
Thanks for your advice.

Why not go for a cheaper car for a few months, until you pass the probation and get settled etc, rather than taking out a new debt on day 1?
(not a £50 banger, but something reliable, sips fuel etc)0 -
Never or when it is 0% interest but then again you're still setting fire to money on depreciation.Hi,

You don't need a new car to do that. Where I work there are plenty of sub £1000 cars in the staff car park and they seem to manage to make it to work every day. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
