in Cutting tax
Afternoon everyone,
Apologies if I am restarting an open thread; I did have a look to see if there was something similar and couldn't see anything.
I am currently working freelance and have a regular (four month) contract with a company. They are paying me a set daily rate, plus the cost of my train. My question is, can I still claim the train fare as a travel expense when I file my tax return?
Thanks in advance,
TipsyTaylor

Whether or not your client is reimbursing you for your costs is an entirely separate matter to whether you can claim tax relief on your costs.
You need to consider whether your travel is considered business travel or ordinary commuting between home and your regular place of work. The latter is not tax deductible.
