Thanks again! Sorry for silence, been waiting for my quote to come through. Just received the below, how does this sound to you?
14 Panel 265 watt, Solar edge, solic hot water system, mains voltage optimiser = £9440
14 Panel 265 watt, Solar Edge = £8540
14 Panel 265 watt, Single string = £7000
I can't remember reading (sorry haven't got time right now to go through the entire thread) that there were issues needing a Solar Edge system i.e. shading or panels with different aspects. Also why on earth is anyone proposing 265w panels in this day. Mine are 300w which makes much better use of the roof space. Finally this is far to expensive to be worthwhile. My 3.3kW system was a lot less than this and I had to pay for a lot of scaffolding as access was difficult.Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
Install 2: Sept 19, 600W SSE
Solax 6.3kWh battery0 -
I paid just over £6k for a 4kWp system plus iBoost in 2013 in the expensive south, so those prices look well over the odds.
Perhaps the Tory plan to undermine the industry by prematurely cutting FITs is working?0 -

Hiya, I don't normally suggest companies, as I'm worried folk will think I know what I'm talking about, and therefore my suggestion is good ..... but .... I'm having my 2 old ESE systems upgraded, and I was very impressed by the salesman (sales manager) whose knowledge of PV and renewables in general was excellent, and I didn't find him at all pushy.
I haven't had the work done yet, so I've no idea if they are any good, but whilst chatting I seem to recall him saying that the company typically install 4kWp SolarEdge systems for under £6k.
So that's a starting point. PM me if you want the company details and sales manager's phone number (they are national).Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
