I had the Zing magazine in the post today having subscibed previously. There are quite a few vouchers for savings specifally for Boots and Tesco, when I was in Asda today using some of the other coupons I asked if they would take these. The lady on the till did not seem to know she said I dont think so, but I am not sure, she did say that they do not accept internet ones now.
I do not want to look a idiot at the till next week holding the queue up while they have to fetch a supervisor, so how can I find out. I was going to ask at customer services but the person working on there on a Monday is a right jobs worth I have had several run ins with her when I have been overcharged and she has not given me the £2 gift card. iI used to work in that Asda for 20 years and left last year, and she knows that, and does not like it when I take something back that I have been overcharged for. There are 2 customer service desks, and I have even gone right to the other end of the store to the other 1 because I can not face going to her, so I dont know how I can find out.0 -
There's a big sign outside our local Asda stating that they take Tesco and Sainsbury vouchers and on another board someone said she handed one over by accident and it scanned through.
Go for the tills with the young lads on, they can never be bothered to mess around and only hand them back if they don't scan
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Yep I did just that this morning!!
Got almost 9 quid off 99 pound shop at Asda!! Using various vouchers from zing magazine. Was well pleased!!
I hate it when usual shop assistants scritinize vouchers but the young lad put them all straight through.
Guess where Im going to do my shopping next week?

I took this advice from this forum a few weeks back and started saving loads on my shopping, always opting for a till with a young lad on it, and never had any problems ...
Until a couple of weeks ago! The lad in question started scrutinising the coupons then asked me if I had put a particular product through the till. I told him I didn't have to, that it was Asda's policy to accept the coupon as long as they stocked the product, that the coupon was scannable, and that it was within its use by date. I could feel my face was starting to go a rather luminous shade of red.
He looked at the coupons again, and then said it says on the coupon that I have to buy the product in order to use the coupon. Wishing that the ground would swallow me up, I explained again about Asda's policy. Not content, he started shouting loudly for a supervisor to come over. By this time the customers waiting in the queue behind me were tutting loudly and rolling their eyes, and deliberately avoiding making any kind of eye contact with me. My face was positively emitting radiation, I felt about two inches tall on the inside, but eight foot tall on the outside, and as if everyone was staring at me. :wall:
Eventually the supervisor came over and he scornfully asked her, in a very loud voice, if he could accept coupons for products that I hadn't bought. She said yes, just put them through, and then walked off. Guess who's turn it was to have a red face then!?!
He scanned all my coupons and I paid my bill and left ... I was fuming as not only did he embarrass me in the loudest manner possible, neither did he apologise. I have written to customer services to ask them to clarify their policy in writing for me, but am still waiting for a reply. To make matters worse, I haven't been able to use another coupon since, I'm too nervous about being pulled up again. I hate confrontation, but I really needed to make the saving that week. I was shaking throughout the incident, and I'm sure my face still has pink spots left over from it! I have had to start sending hubby out for shopping if I want to use coupons, he doesn't care! He uses a Derren Brown mind trick sort of thing. As he hands them over he looks right into their eyes and says, "Scan them" LOL :rotfl:
'Course, I can't rely on hubby to go shopping all the time, gonna have to try to build my confidence up again to do it on my own. Any tips, anyone?!? :think:Thought is creative. Think beautiful thoughts, create a beautiful world.0 -
When you find someone that DOES scan your vouchers with no problem,, note the time of shop and hopefully if you visit store same time following week the same cashier should be working?
Difficult I know as every time I go to Asda I seem to see different faces on the tills but Im going to look out for "Andy" in my store next week.
Oh no!! Just remembered.......I did my shop on Sunday this week and will be doing it on Monday morning next week so will have to look for another willing participant although Ive never had a problem at my store unless the date is not good on the coupon.
I know exactly what you mean though, I always feel slightly apprehensive when cashier looks closely at coupons and we really shouldnt feel embaressed but Im hoping with the amount of vouchers I have at the moment I am going to become utterly confident handing them over in the next coming weeks.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... My tip would be to try and go for the same cashiers every week, too. I usually tend to semi-jokingly apologise to the guy on the till and say something along the lines of, "You probably really hate all these vouchers!" That makes them feel human, and I do really feel for them having to scan all the tiny bits of paper!dimpler wrote:

I know it was an embarrassing incident for you, but you know you were right, so don't be put off by just one ignorant person.
As for people in the queue tutting, I don't really care and I'm too busy to look at them anyway. Besides, my hubby (he's the one not confident with using vouchers in our family) says it's hilarious watching the people's expression change from annoyance at utter disbelief at how much money I've saved, ha!

Thanks for all tips and words of encouragement everyone :A
I (nervously) dared to try some of the king of shaves vouchers in Asda earlier this evening and they were all accepted, so I got £5 off my shop and I've made a note of the lady who served me and will always look for her in future!
Bit fed up about their customer services not replying to me yet though, may have to write another letter to them ... Would be nice to have back-up in writing for any possible future incidents!
Thanks again everyone :TThought is creative. Think beautiful thoughts, create a beautiful world.0 -
Went to tesco to use my tokens as I bought 7 Best magazines. Tesco would only accept one voucher. Tonight I went to ASDA, I spent £69.34, the bloke on the till took nearly all my vouchers leaving me with a bill of £2.24. I am extatic to say the least. Funnily enough though, the only vouchers he refused were 7 coupons for free muller corners, I had actually bought these, but he said sorry there is no barcode. I knew I could get someone to sort this out, but my bill would then have been 8p. I thought this would really have been kicking the backside out so I said thank you very much ab=nd left.

Morrisons took my 6 Muller corner vouchers, buy six get 6 free. I call that supersizing my vouchers, making them worth 76p each. This offer is on until Jul 16th (?) LOL
It was worth getting all the extra copies of Best just for these vouchers alone.
Only trouble is finding enough space in the fridge
