Stop being self employed

I have been self employed since 01/2017, I got offered job so from the next week i will be employed by the company. I've already submitted tax return for 2016/2017 year ,so what should I do now? I know that I have to let the HMRC know that I am stopping self employment but how do I submit tax return for current year? I need to also let Student Finance know about my changes in employment as I receive Maintenance Loan as a Migrant Worker so That they know that I am employed now and do not receive any income from self employment. Any advice ?

  • You cannot complete your tax return for this year until after 5 April 2018.

Even if you notify HMRC now that you have stopped being self employed don't forget to include the date you stopped being self employed on the tax return next year - otherwise it will look as though you changed your mind and continued in self employment.
