PC Builders, AMD 939 Bundle Bargain@Maplin £82.50 0r less [CLOSED]

Maplin have a returns dept selling B Grade customer returns, tho not all items are heavily discounted.

Whilst browsing I discovered IMHO a relative bargain.;)

Its an AMD 3000/939skt processor with a current, tho moderate motherboard around the price of the processor alone (£90minus1p), free post, and if you subscribe to thier newsletter a £7.50 discount voucher is available. Spend another £10.01 and the discount increases to £10. The new price is £150, on offer at mo (was £200 less 1p).
So a near 60% saving ( on MAPLIN price only, I'm sure someone will pop my bubble as usual )

They had 3 left after I got mine

I can only see B Grade Athlon 64 3000's (item B89AD) at £89.99 with no mention of a motherboard included. That doesn't seem so much of a bargain, though ties in with Maplin trying to sell it at £149.99 new. Am I missing something?

Ooh temptation!! Get thee behind me Satan! Seems a great deal - unfortunately just blew my spare dosh on a new graphics card, but looks a pretty impressive offer for a m/board and processor.

All Gone now, will let you know if it all works out as advertised, the board is an ECS nVidia4 939, no overclocking or firewire, maybe has raid? matches DFI for speed. The cpu goes for around £100 at Aria/eBuyer etc .

Just thought I'd point out that the item here:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=-34&doy=24m5D

marked as "B Grade" almost certainly isn't the motherboard bundle - just the CPU (as per the previous post in this thread). The reason being is that if you do a search for B Grade - you'll see this same code B99AD listed under "AMD 64 processors" (no mention of motherboard) for the same price and the same number of items in stock.
  • I saw this yesterday and really could not make out whether the £89 included the motherboard or not. Taking another look it's not clear and if Maplin won't supply both the processor and motherboard I think a note to your local trading standards would be appropriate along with the printout of the relevant pages.
