Open University - NUS Student Card

For any of you Open University students out there, for the first year the NUS have started offering decent deals for OU students, previously it hasn't been worth it with the OU student card.
Go to http://www.nusextra.co.uk/ and sign up for one, upload your photo and it costs £10, however I'd say you'll get that back easy enough. Discounts at McDonalds, Subway, Dominos, Superdrug, Arriva, Burtons, Amazon etc, etc. Every little helps so it may only be 10-15% but I think you also get good deals at McDonalds - this in itself is worth it for me
I also noticed the Lloyds TSB student account, now I'm not sure what clauses there are, but once I've got my card, I'm going to go into Lloyds to ask them to change my account to a student account, mind you I don't think they will give me the same overdraft facility I've got already (£3500)!
Ah well, hope this helps someone.

Brilliant! I recently sold my car, and now travel by bus. With an Open University course costing £27.50 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers, and a £10 NUS card, I can now save £412 per quarter on a Stagecoach Bluebird bus pass! http://www.stagecoachbus.com/bluebird/unirider.html
Shame I'm too old to get a Railcard.0 -
Does this get sent direct to your home from nusextra or do they send it to the OU first? Wonder how soon I'd be able to get it?0

Also its got to be a 60 point or over course. I am doing a 10 point course and was told I couldn't have one.

I would think it goes direct to you, the OU is a very large place and dealing with discount cards is not IMO high on thier priorities!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

It takes a while to get it and when applying it says it will go to OU first so they can confirm you are their student.
Not sure how it works in practice0
