Update..after first saying my mum was dead when the pension should have passed to her they then said she did receive a pension until her death but she was owed 147 quid which now passes to me. However to receive it I have to sign an indemnity. I am suspicious that they are trying to get out of a much bigger settlement? Any ideas how I should proceed?

You can write to the Administrators, ask for details of the pension paid and ask why any amount due was not paid to her estate when they were informed of her death.

As it's such a small amount, the indemnity is in lieu of probate and will cover themselves against another claim (ie, perhaps from another sibling that they didn't know about?) for this £147.

I had to sign an indemnity when my sister died in hospital. leaving £100 in the ward safe.

You need to check this yourself by looking through her bank accounts for evidence of payments, since Boots have changed their answer it doesn't inspire confidence they know what they are doing.
