O/S Daily Tuesday 13th June 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

    Morning all,

Just got up with the little hound so I thought I'd pop me head round the door. It's almost 5am and hubby will be heading out the door shortly.

Youngest didn't come home last night he did a full shift at Milton Keynes and bedded down for the night in Sussex where he is working on a new project today. It's so quiet without him.

Another peaceful night for hubby. This is silly...how can 3 bars of soap under the sheet make such a difference to the quality of his sleep? He was fast asleep when I came to bed and hasn't moved all night. Maybe I ought to prod him to see if he's breathing.

Mission for today...ask me when I'm awake.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Morning all and thank you for the thread Judi.

A better night for me but have woken to a cool, grey day. Never mind, I don't need to be out and as it really does look as though it is going to pour down, am glad of that.

I made lasagne last night and managed to achieve portion control. OH pointed out that with something like that, I seem to cook for 3 even though DS is away. Was good, with loads of salad, am not good at portion control with salad but I do eat lots of that.

Nothing much on my personal agenda today. I'm finding that I get so tired on working days that on days off, I've little energy left to do exciting things. So I am just recharging my flat batteries today.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Morning everyone

Judi - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light, sun trying to break through the cloud, but seems like it's going to be an ok day, I'll put the washing out shortly when I water the plants.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was pasta and mushrooms in a creamy sauce with breaded chicken pieces for the menfolk, I had pasta with a slice of the gammon that I'd cooked on Sunday. Menfolk then saw the gammon and wanted a slice of that too, so that hasn't stretched as far as I would have liked, but everyone was happy and the chicken pieces are not big at all. There is still some sliced gammon left in the fridge. Tonight we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Work wasn't ever so busy but steady and eased off in the afternoon, we'll see what today brings.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

    Guess what? Yep, it's raining!

Had a good game of netball last night, staff won 19-6. I have never thought of myself as a good aim but I scored 16 of those goals! My knees are suffering this morning, bet the kids are as agile as ever! Hoping a good swim will help.

Washing hanging about here, DW emptied and packed lunch of salad made. It will be a chicken leg for dinner with lots of veggies.

Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning.

Slept like a log and woke early.

It's still a very watery outlook here. Once again I lit the fire mid afternoon and enjoyed just watching it. I spent most of the afternoon reading on the sofa though I had a little foray into the small barn too. There's still a box of newspaper to go out and a couple of shelves to tidy to make it more presentable.

I got all my assessments onto CD only to mess up the two pieces of paper which have to go in as hard copies. That meant a quick trip into the college to have replacements printed. So annoying!

As for today, I've got a hospital run for an elderly woman to do at 12.30, she's only seeing a nurse so won't be long, and then I'm expecting a wine delivery later in the afternoon. I've got a pile of papers to read for two meetings in Oban tomorrow :( which'll keep me occupied / bored for the rest of the day.

No washing or shopping happening here. :T

I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy Tuesday.

    Morning everyone,

Thank you for starting us off Judi

Hugs to those that are unwell or having a difficult time at the moment.

I managed to get one door painted yesterday, and now it is dry I am pleased with my efforts. I was worried it would be patchy with this water based paint but it isn’t at all. It could be because when I had them put in three years ago they were painted with it then. So it is really just a refresh rather than a start from scratch sort of job.

I will have a break from it today though. I don’t want to keep at it until I get too exhausted to finish or too fed up with it. I will leave it now and do another one next weeks.

If it stays nice dry sunny day I want to go over and meet my sister in law for a coffee. They live in a nice market town with some good independent shops and I need to get a couple of birthday presents. It is also my niece’s 21st birthday in July and I want her to help me choose a gift.

First, I need to go and get something for dinner tonight out of the freezer to defrost.

I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.

    Good morning
Sunny again, if we could just have some rain at night that would be wonderful, save me watering the garden.
Well Christmas is officially over, have just eaten the last tin of Christmas biscuits. Bought a box of chocs and a box of nice choc biscuits and shortbread in case some one came to visit, and they didn't, so I've 'tidied' the cupboard and eaten them.
Not much planned, maybe continue with my deep clean, tidy of kitchen. May even find some more goodies :D
    Have a good day

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright and sunny morning here today. Hubby and DD's16 and 17 have left for school and DD14 hasn't appeared yet. I managed a bit of a lie in so I feel very happy.

Nothing planned for today apart from sewing up some of the knitted toys I made. This is my least favourite job so tends to get put off but my knitting bag is bulging with unfinished projects so I need to clear some space, besides it will be nice to see the finished item.

I'm cooking burgers and chips for tea so no prep needed. The moroccan baked chicken and rice was a big hit so I will definitely make that again. Inspired by another thread I will probably make some jam thumb print cookies too as the girls love them.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning everyone and what a beautiful sunny morning it is as well. Looks like its set for the day which is a bonus. I have a busy day today this morning I have a U3A coffee morning and its my turn to 'chair' it, then tonight its quiz night at the pub.I always enjoy that as it means I have a night off from cooking (meal thrown in with the price of the quiz ). after coffee morning i shall whizz round to let the dogs out and DGS Henry will be there as he only has one exam this morning and then he is home from school.Yesterday bless him he helped in their garden by breaking up the old fence that was replaced on Saturday.he is such a good lad and is always willing to give me a hand if he can.I have promised him we shall go out for lunch next Monday and he can choose where we eat.
He has worked so hard on his exams and even done extra after school revision voluntarily.

Tomorrow is the AGM for our local branch of U3A in the afternoon so its going to be a bit of a rush tomorrow as I have an appointment in Faversham in the morning as well. I just don't know sometimes ,I think I could do with an extra 10 hours in my day at times ,still keeping busy is good for the mind apparently when you get erm ...a little older :):):)

Hope you all have an excellent day and <<hugs>> to those who are finding life tough at the moment

    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.

Better nights sleep, I woke just after 6am, went to the loo and snoozed on, OH has just brought my breakfast in. Towels in the washer overnight, it has rained during the night, but hopefully the washing will dry.

Off to see friends this afternoon, will take them some rhubarb, strawberries and also some blackberries from the freezer, have 2 bags left, our blackberry is flowering, and it looks like we will have a bumper crop, the raspberries are also flowering, they are OH's favourites.
