Today is last day off work and I really am not looking forward to going back, need must though. Being at home has been a bit of a killer for NSD's which really bring home how easy it is to fritter away cash on very little.

I always knew August would be tricky with kids holidays and uniform plus the endless requests for cash for KFC/cinema/bus etc. I've accepted begrudgingly that no significant debt reduction will be made this month. Payroll managed to !!!! up my July salary so I was £150 short before August even started. Hopefully September will allow me to make some big dents in the debt.

The super-good news is that I've hit the £500 mark in the emergency fund!! Whoop whoop!! I had hoped to get here by Christmas but I may be almost at the fabled £1k mark by then. It's such a great feeling to have savings. I've never ever had this before (I always regarded the CC's as my personal saving accounts, hence my current mess). I keep looking at random things like washing machines and thinking 'ooooh I could buy that with cash if I had to'. Clearly it's time to get back to work......
