Thank you this is great but those interested should be quick as Mango says:

"On February 5th 2008, Mango will begin offering subscription options for our online learning system. Don’t worry! There will still be a free version of our system at the most basic level. However, for a small monthly subscription fee, you’ll benefit from an influx of new features that will greatly help you learn your new language.
Until February 5th 2008, all registered users will have access to our Pro Subscription features at no charge "

    I would also recommend
    www.BYKI.com
Free BYKI software downloads for Windows and Mac include more than a dozen lists of words and phrases with full learning functionality, images for many cards, and native speaker sound for all of them. They are not time or session limited and can be used forever.
free software download in any of 63 languages.
I tried these for Italian and French and they were excellent

    FREE LANGUAGE LEARNING PARTNER MATCH
For a partner to help with your language learning, try eTandem (via search, or try this link http://ta.slf.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/pa/pr/anm.php?lang=en. They help you learn their language, you help with their English.
It's a free service, you may have a long wait if the language you want to learn is not a common one, and the results are variable. Some partnerships don't work, but I've met some lovely people & we're still exchanging emails after several years.
My daughter has had numerous partners. After a few emails telling your partner about your name, age, family, where you live etc. your kids will run out of things to say. However, they can then request a new partner and start all over again. Works a treat :)

    Hi all,

Anyone ever tried to learn a language by using skype?

There seem to be quite a few websites that claim to be free and hook you up with someone who would like to learn english but not sure which of them are any good?

There seem to be loads of wierdos on skype (had a go at the "skypecasts") so I dont want to meet any oddballs just someone who wants to learn english while I learn spanish!

This site suggests a few - anyone got any recommendations?

looks good, however i really wish someone would make a latin american spanish course! i can't find anyone who does a specific course, they all just wave it off as being roughly the same as european spanish. which is silly as spanish varies from region to region never mind from different countries

i see mango have done brazilian portugese so hopefully they might come up with it!

Try the Pimsleur spanish course- its done with all south american accents! e.g. using "s" sounds rather than the "th" lispy sounds of castillian spanish
