Changing mortgage to a joint application

My current deal is about to expire and hence I will be looking around for another "best" deal. However, this has also timed with my engagement.
Are there any factors I should consider in this application?
Can I make it a joint application with a legal agreement on current equity ownership? Will this require extra work from the solicitor? Would that constitute a "pre-nup" which would sit totally outside of the agreement on the house?
Any advice will be much appreciated.
