Have you got long to go on the smaller loan? Is the caravan static? Is it possible to let it out for the weeks that you aren't using it to be able to make extra payments on the caravan loan?

Totally agree about lists...lists for everything here!

  • Hi Honeysuckle, the loan finishes in Jan 18. Yes, it is a static caravan and we have considered letting it out in the future. At the moment we are down every weekend and will be in the summer but might well consider letting it out after that.

    Hi

I'm also a lover of lists I find it really helps to write everything down and then take a long look at how you are going to tackle things, it sounds like you are of to a good start. This is a place for support (I've been here before but fell of the wagon, and have created a new login for a new start).
    Good luck with your journey.

I really second getting YNAB, it pays for itself. Make sure you do every class:

You will love it, and they account for spending that is not monthly.

  • At least if you're visiting the caravan most weeks it feels like a useful purchase!

    Well done on the NSD.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

  • Evening all, thanks for your responses, I really appreciate it!! YNAB here I come! Yes, caravan is expensive, but it is right on the beach, only an hour away & the kids love it. I plan to be down every weekend in the summer hols & it forces us to relax! So day 3...another crazy day at work & a NSD. Again took coffee/ food to work, meal plan is working & am returning 2 items that I bought tomorrow so £50 back in my account.
Over the next few days I'm going to do my SOA, figure out this YNAB & write down all my money saving ideas that have been popping into my head at work!! Also found a few more items to list on eBay (now have 19 on!). So full steam ahead!!
I love reading everyone's diaries & getting ideas, I hope that this is the start of a mindshift for me.
Anyway off to put the kids to bed.. .

    I'd love a caravan :o one day I will! Maybe when I'm 65 :rotfl:

Well done on the eBay listing and sticking to your plan :)

I can't get to grips with ynab at all.
  • Me neither...just checked it out & realised it's American, too tired to figure out how to synch bank account etc! Am going to have another look when my brain is actually working. My current dilemma is whether I continue to shop at Aldi & stick to my list ( which I struggle with...especially when my kids are chucking things in the trolley when my back is turned!) or if I shop online which will keep me on the straight & narrow but good is pricier.
    Mustn't forget to vote tomorrow!
  • Just checked my eBay listings & currently up to £20, woohoo!!
