Hello, I'm quite new here and thought a wannabe debt free diary might help me and will be good to get to know people here. To introduce myself....
I'm a single mum of 2 little ones both now at school.
Have a DMP since 2012 and have an outstanding debt of £26,205. Have paid off £5.7k.
I keep derailing progress and living hand to mouth existence despite the DMP and through my own stupid actions. I am keeping up with my DMP payments which I know are a must.
Current derailments from:
1. Having joined a gym which costs £100 a month (not in my DMP) and can't get out of it till next January
2. Having agreed to two birthday parties for my girls - one I've already had but the other not yet and her birthday was start of May. Cost will be about £120 (though split with my mum)
3. Having a fortnightly cleaner (£27 each time for 3 hours) to try and help me keep up the house which I am bad at. Moved last May and still lots of unpacked boxes
4. I work part time at home and have no chance of upping my hours or money
5. Last month I stupidly reactivated a CC I'd forgotten I had with idea of helping with cashflow (haha!
) I have to pay back £80 this month to get it back to zero.
6. I've got a negative balance on my budget this month (without including food) unless I can sell some things and am running out of things to sell
7. I;ve got my MOT due next month and know that there are issues with my car, which I can't afford to deal with
So really just feeling overwhelmed and angry with myself.
Have spent nil today but need to get basics in for girls food.
Not really sure if writing this all down at this stage is helping as I'd just got a vague panicked feeling before!

Do me a favour, instead of regretting that gym choice, go 4 times a week and ensure you get in the best shape ever. Quit worrying about it, it is done now, so make it a positive.
5k is 5k more than me, so well done you have come a long way!
If I am being brutally honest if you work at home you have zero reason to have a cleaner. I am a young guy who works 9am to 9pm like 4 times a week and 9 to 6 the other day, yet I go the gym at 6am and hoover / dust at 10PM. Even now it is 1AM and I have literally just dusted the skirting boards around the whole flat lol.LBM: £29517.61 June 2017 DFD: DEC 2021 Total Paid 76.80/29517.69
