Pensions Catch 22

I'm nearly 32 and am only just at a point where I can afford to set some money aside for a pension. As we all know pensions are complicated things so using the site I searched for my nearest IFA. I rang round a few of them to find out what the fees would be to have a consultation to sort me out a pension and the cheapest as £200. I cant afford that so I've tried to do some research my self, all thats happened is I'm completely confused and feel like giving it all up. Any suggestions as to what my next move should be before I kick it all into touch.
Smile. Its the second best thing you can do with your lips....

Rather than pay by fee, why not get the IFA to do the transaction by commission? The annual management charge may be a little higher but not by much and at least you wont be paying up front and it will get you onto a pension.
Fees are also typically better with higher fund values or investment amounts. Commission is better with smaller amounts.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
