security for a balcony door

I am going away for a few days and want to leave the balcony door (upvc )open a little for the cats to go in and out. Is there anyting tat will do the job but doesent have to be installed in any way as i do not know anybodyy to do it for me, and diy is not for me

    This might be a completely impractical suggestion, but would a couple of bricks (or other weights) either side of the door work? The bricks on one side would keep it open, the bricks on the other would stop it blowing open too wide.

    Presumably the balcony door doesn't give direct access to your home - if it does, leaving the door open while the flat is unoccupied will almost certainly invalidate your insurance.

    Thanks for that. I do that when i am at home but wanted additioal securty when i am away and so that i can leave the door open in the hot nights,

    Could you rig up a plank of wood, cut to appropriate length, like you sometimes get in hotels abroad??
