There has been a lot of discussion about this, but I thought it would be interesting to do a quick poll.

I mostly rotate 5% points and cashback amex intro offers between myself and DW. the points you can collect the point sin the first 3 months, convert to another points wallet and close the card and repeat 6 months after closing. The cashback takes a bit longer as you can not claim the cash till after 12 months after opening then again close and wait 6 months. Luckily the points and cashback are completely separate in terms of qualifying for new customer offers.
I do use the barclaycard 0.5% for places that don't take Amex.I think....0 -
Changing to any other 0.5% card, Aqua / NationwideI will keep the Barclaycard but will use my TSB credit card in preference as it's a MasterCard that pays 1% cash back on the first £500 each month0

I've already exhausted this option, I believe it's an introductory offer, that's the only reason I didn't include it in the poll. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Changing to Amex directly........
I do use the barclaycard 0.5% for places that don't take Amex.
I've just got a 0% purchase card and worked out that I can earn more interest on savings over 24 months to offset the 0.5% from barclaycard- obviously I need to be cautious and have the funds to pay back, it's terrible the lengths we have to go to these days just for an extra few percentAfter reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Changing to a 0% card ? M&S, Sainsburys, SantanderI'm getting the Santander 30 months 0% on purchases, as I can then offset against my mortgage. Will keep the Barclaycard 0.5% for the time being, though I won't be using it!I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

I hadn't thought about it that way. Not a bad way of doing it. I don't have a mortgage, but my money would still be earning interest (not a lot) but more at least 1%.0 -
Changing to Amex directlyMy thoughts so far,
It's interesting that 2 votes have come in on changing to an alternative 0.5% card, I'm struggling with that can anyone enlighten me to the benefits of changing to an identical 0.5% cashback rate? I guess you really don't like Barclaycard?
It's interesting the 0% IFP didn't get more votes, as I mentioned in the main thread, I got the M&S card for the 0% only to be issued with a very silly low credit limit, which then made the card effectively useless, so it's Amex directly for me, I have an old Blue Amex that pays 0.5% on the first £3,500 and 1% thereafter. My annual spend is only about 8k so my Amex Plat that pays 0.5% on the first 5k then 1% on spend between 5-10k and a whopping 1.25% on spend above 10k sadly will remain dormant.
The above rates are I believe no longer available to new customers. Both are old legacy cards. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
