Hi there has anyone heard of Accord Mortgages?
The reviews are not good but who I've never known anyone write a good review of a mortgage!
If we were to go with these we could save £200 a month moving to a new rate.
Hope you can offer advice.
Plus points and negatives. Thanks

I have used them 2 or 3 times, a good 3-4 years ago.
I stopped using them because they were an absolute nightmare each time. I hve heard a couple of positive things more recently, but not enough to give them a try myself just yet.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It is the intermediary lending arm of Yorkshire Building Society.
YBS are quite a picky lender by nature. They are quite difficult to do business with in terms of getting things done quickly but do usually have good deals. Essentially, don't expect things to be fast and expect to provide the kitchen sink (and be in the position to do so) and you will be fine.0 -
They are part of Yorkshire BS. I think they only do business via brokers but I'm not certain. I have just remortgaged through my broker with Accord and everything went very smoothly. My broker did all the work behind the scenes so if there were nightmares then I didn't experience them. That's why I use my broker as he's been my broker for a while so he knows my circumstances well. I didn't have to supply the kitchen sink either - just payslips, bank account statements and tax return. I got free legals. Was surprised how fast the legal work was done for a remortgage. I did make sure all my credit reference reports were accurate well in advance of application although to be fair I'm a very straight forward case with no debt or payment problems and 66% LTV. The full app was submitted on the Tuesday, surveyor rang on the Wednesday, survey took place on the friday. On the Monday after survey they asked for a few more documents - my latest mortgage statement and a bank statement from my other current account as I have 2. The offer came the following Monday - so if you don't count the weekend then it took 5 days working days after survey for them to proceed to offer. The legals (Gordon's solicitors) made contact the day after full app. All completed 7 weeks later.0

I'm not a broker but we have used them on 3 of our houses, the first about 6 years ago and then our next house 4 years ago and our holiday house 2 years ago. Each time it was effortless getting the loan, in comparison to the value we were borrowing about 50 percent each time do not a high loan to value. But both of us own businesses so we could be viewed as risky to lend to im not sure.
Once you have the mortgage managing it is easy, you can call and get an automated balance. We have Australian style mortgages, I think the rates fixed around 2 percentish. Not sure what they offer now.
We don't overpay as such but we move money into the linked saving account and it's simple enough all online or you can call I think they are open every day. Always polite and helpful if you need them. We have had a great experience with them, thus using them 3 times.
We own rental properties a few still mortgaged with Halifax and in comparison I much prefer dealing with Accord. I think the initial mortgage you might need to go via a broker but after that if you are remortgaging they are happy to deal direct with you, maybe check if you even need the initial introduction maybe not it's 6 years since we were in that position.0 -
We are currently trying to re mortgage with Accord! What a horrible company!!! We have beeen dealing with them since October and still nothing sorted! We have to phone them, no one EVER contacts us!! We have to wait ages to get our call answered!! Now they tell us that it has taken so long to sort that the initial amount borrowed is not enough and our present mortgage company wants more money to pay off our old mortgage!!! We are at a loss to see how these people get away with treating people like this!!! Our broker was useless! Never use St James' Palace again!! These people take your money then wash their hands of you!!! Shocking!!!!! Merry Christmas to you all 😡😡0

St James place are one of the most expensive distribution channels going. You shouldnt be using them for that reason. Although you normally find they do what they are required to do. Hopefully, you have no other products with them. These people take your money then wash their hands of you!!!
Mortgage brokerage is transactional. When the mortgage is complete, the service ends. In between, the broker should provide the service. You shouldn't be dealing with the lender. The broker should be. This may be why you are having communication issues.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I took a mortgage out with them two years ago - property purchase rather than remortgage. At that time I wasn't an easy case so it took a fair bit of effort and I think I submitted over 30 documents to them in the end. For reference, I had a gifted deposited from my father, which originated from my late mothers estate and a very unsettled address history so I think many other lenders would have been equally as stringent.
I had a fantastic mortgage broker who was worth his weight in gold.
For £200/month saving, I would definitely go with Accord, but make sure you have a good broker.0 -
