    Sorry, I missed this query.

    The bailiff's power to enforce ceases if there is no warrant to confer it to them. So they can't chase the debt once it has been returned.

    This, however, does not mean that the authority cannot reissue the warrant to another bailiff, and they frequently do.

    Also, the authority has a variety of other enforcement powers to chose from, attachments to benefits/earnings, application for committal hearing etc.
